      The Toxic Ethnic Medicines of China by Professor Wan Wins First Prize for Academic Works of CMAM

      On November 9, the 2019 Awarding Ceremony for Academic Works of China Medical Association of Minorities (CMAM) was held in Nanjing. The Toxic Ethnic Medicines of China (in two volumes) compiled by Professor Wan Xiangrong from the College of Pharmacy of SCUN won a first prize “for academic works of CMAM”.

      Containing 1.77 million characters, the Toxic Ethnic Medicines of China is a work systematically introducing the toxic medicines of each minority of China. It collects 927 kinds of toxic ethnic medicines used by 41 minority groups (based on the number of sources), including 825 botanical medicines, 67 animal medicines, 35 mineral medicines. It introduces the names, local names, sources, medicinal parts and toxicity level, collection of different toxic ethnic medicines, the forms, living environment and/or distribution of animals, plants and minerals, the preparation and toxicity reduction methods, the medicinal experience of each ethnic group, precautions for use, toxic symptoms and rescue measures, the medicinal material authentication methods, chemical composition or toxic composition, pharmacological action, toxicity and toxicology and related issues to explain. It is so far the first great book on toxic ethnic medicines of China.

       

      After the book was published in 2016, it has been popular among professionals and reported by a lot of media and has been printed for the third time.
